Anneli Bergholm Söder, MSB

Anneli Bergholm Söder is the Director of the Coordination and Operations Department at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). She is leading the agency’s operational assignment which is aimed at strengthening, coordinating and directing the coordinated work between responsible actors in times of crises, both nationally and internationally.

During her time with MSB, Mrs. Bergholm Söder has been responsible for the national coordination of the H1N1 pandemic response as well as the volcanic outbreak on Iceland. Her department managed the Swedish national operational support to the international community after the major earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, the typhoon in the Philippines as well as the response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Last year, Mrs. Bergholm Söder oversaw the national coordination of the refugee-influx to Sweden where MSB provided analysis of societal consequences to the Government, supported coordinated decision making and strengthened the capacity of other agencies, regional boards and municipalities to manage the situation.

Mrs. Bergholm Söder has previously worked as the head of the Crisis Management Section at the Swedish Emergency Management Agency. She also has a long background as a manager within the Swedish Police, where she has served as Section Chief at the National Police, and Deputy Director at the Operational Department of the Stockholm Police.
