Federal Internship through CINA & DHS Transportation Security Administration

CINA is seeking candidates for an internship with DHS Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Internships are slated to begin during 2021 spring semester, with potential for an extension to go throughout the summer of 2021. Deadline to apply is January 20.  Read more and apply now.

Students will work with the TSA Security Operations Team to develop a new set of performance metrics for security operations. Due to COVID restrictions, internship may be 100% remote, with possibility of on-site work if conditions improve. For selected candidates, CINA may provide a scholarship or stipend to support their internship efforts. Internship schedule will be arranged based on student’s semester class schedule and needs of the hosting agency, but is estimated to range from 10-20 hours per week in spring, and 20-30 hours per week in summer.

  • A cover letter (no more than 1 page) articulating how student’s skills and background will support success in the internship.
  • A current CV/resume
  • A list of three references, including the name and contact information of a faculty advisor or instructor familiar with the student’s work.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a full time graduate or undergraduate program with good academic standing (GPA 3.0 or higher).
  • Strong experience with data processing and analytics, and/or enrollment in a data science or other data-centric academic program.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Desired skills and background 

  • Experience with one or more open source or commercial data processing and analysis tools and software suites.
  • Prior experience working with government or industry is preferred.
