In October of 2018, a panel of experts convened for the “Forum on Migration, Homeland Security and Gangs,” drawing an audience of more than 100 people to the MIX on Mason’s Fairfax campus. The event, which was sponsored by Mason’s Schar School of Policy and Government and the Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis Center (CINA), focused on developing a better understanding of the nature, aims, capacity and functions of transnational gangs from Central America that have entered the criminal space.
